Fjord og Bælt

Fjord og Bælt is the marine center where I work as a volunteer. The center is located in the harbour of kerteminde, and profits of the natural waters of the Fjord and the Lillebælt sea. The centre has 2 big natural pools, one with 3 harbour seals, and the other with 3 harbour porpoises. They also have different expositions with much information about the ecosystems of this region, some aquariums and a tunnel to observe the mammals under water. What is really interesting about this place is the fact that it was the first facility in the world to maintain alive porpoises and give them the opportunity to breed. There is a research team carrying out different studies about those animals. Workers of this centre also perform many activities with the local people such as biology or diving lessons.
