Visit to the north

One of the weekends of may I travel with a friend to the north of Jylland. We visited Kattegatcentret and  Henry, one of the EVS volunteers working there who guided us through the center. Kattegatcentret is an aquarium located in Grenå. They have different fish tanks, shark tanks and a place with 4 harbour seals. Visiting the centre with Henrik made the experience even better, mainly because he show us many things with good explanations. Next day we visited Skagen, which is the northest point of Jylland. The most interesting thing about this place is that we can see how the 2 seas litteraly splash with each other. We had also the opportunity to visit some sand dunes in the area and “Den Tilsandede Kirke” which is a church that was placed in an old village covered by the sand a long time ago. Den var en rigtig god tur i Jylland, hvor vi tog at kender bedre af nordJylland med gode venner! Tak for turen!

Birthday and Meeting in Fredericia

After the great experience of the EVS intro-camp my host mother picked me up in Ollerup with other volunteers. Since the next day we had a meeting in Fredericia from the Dansk ICYE organization. Joao from Portugal and Adam from Hungary came to sleep in my host family house.

This night it was my Birthday and my family just prepared a great dinner for the family and my friends. We had dinner with other volunteers living nearby and also one of the sons came with his wife and their two children. We had a great dinner and then we had some beers outside to take advantage of the last summer days.
Next day, we had a meeting in Fredericia with different host families. The aim of this meeting was to know other volunteers that had just arrived to Denmark and also meet their new host families. We had meal all together in the MadsbyParken. There we went for a walk to sightseen this big park, we had a look at the different animals they have and we also had some time to take the small boats in the lake. Definitely we had a great day! Hope to see you all of you soon again!

Legoland – Billund

The Sunday 6 of August I was invited to join some friends from the summer camp in Aarhus to visit Legoland. Legoland is a theme-park about the famous brand Lego and its small pieces to build stories and scenarios. Legoland is really nice. One of the main attractions are the great number of sculptures built with Lego pieces. Different rollercoaster and play zones are found in the thematic areas of the Park. The trip and the visit was awesome. The only bag thing was that the Park was highly crowed and we had to wait an extra time to enjoy the rollercoasters. So I would recommend you to avoid the school dates!
I put here some pictures of the day! 😉

Starting my EVS in a summer-camp in Århus

I started my EVS experience in a summer camp organised by Dansk ICYE. When new volunteers arrive to start their new projects, Dansk ICYE organises a new intro-camp to welcome them. It is a good way of meeting new people that would be in the same situation as you! They organise 4 intro-camps per year and of course you are invited to join all of them!

Mine was in Risskov, near Århus. We stayed one weekend where we played different games and we had some dynamics of understanding Danish culture. We also had some advices of volunteers that were in the middle of their stay. We also had the opportunity to meet our new families, and many people working in this organization.
